Wauwatosa, Wisconsin - In a stunning turn of events, local man John Smith's attempt to display his patriotism with a USA tattoo has failed miserably and ended up as a map of the city of Wauwatosa.
According to witnesses, Smith entered the tattoo parlor on Main Street with a clear vision of a bold, patriotic design that would showcase his love for his country. However, after several hours of intense needlework, it became apparent that something had gone horribly wrong.
"I don't know what happened," said tattoo artist Sarah Johnson. "He kept saying he wanted a USA tattoo, but every time I looked up from my work, it seemed like he was pointing at a map of Wauwatosa."
Indeed, Smith's tattoo now features a detailed and accurate rendering of the city, complete with street names, parks, and landmarks. The letters "USA" are nowhere to be found.
"It's definitely not what I had in mind," said Smith, who now regrets not double-checking the design before going under the needle. "I mean, I love Wauwatosa and all, but this isn't exactly what I wanted permanently etched into my skin."
The botched tattoo has become a local sensation, with many residents taking to social media to share their amusement at Smith's misfortune.
"I can't stop laughing," wrote one Twitter user. "This guy wanted to show his patriotism and ended up with a map of Wauwatosa on his arm. Classic!"
As for Smith, he says he's learned his lesson and will be more careful when choosing his next tattoo design.
"I guess I'll just have to find another way to display my love for the USA," he said. "Maybe I'll get a T-shirt or something."
